Recording

The DTR-5.2 can also be used to record an input source media. This

allows you to make copies of the music or videos you like, copy

them from one type of media to another, or even record what is being

broadcast on television or radio.

Recording an audio source

Make all connections between the tape deck and the receiver as

shown in the “Connections” diagram (pages 11-14).

1. Insert a blank tape into the tape deck.

2. Press the input source button for the source you

want to record.

• If you select DVD, Video 1, Video 2, or Video 3, only the audio

will be recorded.

• If you select FM or AM, set the tuner to the station you want to

record.

Notes:

• If you change the input source during recording, you will record

the signals from the newly selected input source.

• You cannot record the surround effects.

• You cannot perform digital recording with the DTR-5.2. Also,

digital-to-analog signal conversion is not possible, so to record

audio signals from digital sources (e.g. CD players), you must

not only make the digital connection, but the analog connection

as well.

• You cannot record the source connected to the MULTI

CHANNEL INPUT connector.

3. Set the tape deck in recording mode. Start playing

the source.

Set the proper recording level using the controls on the tape

deck.

Recording data from a video disc player (or a

video camcorder) to VCR

Video disc programs can be recorded onto a VCR (VIDEO 1).

1. Load a disc in the video disc player or DVD player,

and insert a blank tape in the VCR (VIDEO 1).

2. Press the Video 2, Video 3, or DVD button.

3. Start playing the source and recording on the VCR.

Refer to the video equipment connections section on the page 12.

Tip:

If you want to record the video from one source and the audio from

another source together, such as recording the video from a video

camera connected to VIDEO 2 and the audio from a CD player

connected to CD, in step 2 above, select the source for the video and

then select the source for the audio. The remaining procedure is the

same as that above.
